The Royal College of Physicians' National Early Warning Score, second version (2017), used across the NHS to detect deterioration in adult patients. Six physiological measurements (respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, systolic blood pressure, pulse, level of consciousness or new confusion, and temperature) are each scored and summed, and rising aggregate scores trigger escalating clinical responses. Digital observation and remote-monitoring systems commonly compute NEWS2 automatically.
