The EHR Simulator is an interactive, browser-based electronic health record built for teaching. It lets you work with a realistic patient record and the standards and workflows that underpin real clinical systems, with nothing to install and no account to create.
Within the simulator you can:
- Clinical terminologies: SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, and ICD-10 coding applied to a live patient record.
- FHIR R4: inspect the record as a FHIR R4 resource bundle.
- HL7 v2 messaging: see how clinical events are encoded as HL7 v2 messages.
- Order sets and risk calculators: place orders and run common bedside risk scores.
- Decision support: CDS Hooks-style alerts fire as you work, illustrating real-time clinical decision support.
It is best used alongside the textbook: open it in a second tab, follow the discussion in the EHR chapter, and try each concept on the live record as you read.
